Always Remember the First Time

• 2000: The WISL's St. Louis Steamers visited Reunion Arena for the first time.
• This game also marked the first win by the WISL Steamers over the Sidekicks.

• 2002: During the Sidekicks exhibition match with the Milwaukee Wave:
  • Tatu was ejected for "foul and abusive language" towards the Referees.
    • This marks the first time in Sidekicks history that a coach has been ejected from a Sidekicks game of any sort: exhibition, regular season, or playoff.
  • This match marked the first match of any sort that the Sidekicks won an overtime game by 2 goals.

They Said It

• 1989: This obervation was made in today's edition of the Dallas Morning News by page 2 columnist Harless Wade:

  Teammates of soccer superstar Tatu, who married local girl Lene Westerman in a huge July 30 wedding in Richardson, are hopeful the Sidekicks hero will snap a unique off-field streak for the club. Like, becoming the father of a bouncing baby boy. Why? Of the players and coaches under team contract now, none has a son. But there are 13 daughters . . .

• As of 2002, Tatu and his wife Lene have 2 sons.

 

• 2002:

  Tatu said the magic word, and then disappeared.

  --Pete Stein, the Sidekicks radio play-by-play personality during the "practice broadcast" that was recorded on tape, but not broadcast publicly. He was refering to player/coach Tatu being ejected late in the fourth quarter of the game for "Foul and Abusive language"
