Always Remember the First Time

• 1984: Mark Karpun scored the first ever goal in Sidekicks history during an exhibition match with the Tacoma Stars at the Budweiser Classic in Wichita, Kansas.

• 1991: David Doyle scored his first goal as Sidekick and his Game Winning Goal for the Club.
  • Jan Goossens scored his first goal and first assist with the Sidekicks

• 2002: The following firsts occurred during the Sidekicks first ever road game at the Philadelphia Kixx:
  • First ever game in the city of Philadelphia.
  • First ever start as a Goalkeeper for David Doyle.
  • Frank Filo recorded his first ever multi-goal game of his career.

• 2003: In the first match of the season vs. the Cleveland Force:
  • Martin Dugas scores his first goal and earns his first assist as a Sidekick.
  • Martin Nash scores his first goal as a Sidekick.

Long Time Coming

• 2002: The Sidekicks played their first road game in the Eastern Time Zone since August 10, 1997.

Rule Changes

• 1989: The MISL Board of Governors approved 4 rule changes for this season on this date:
  1. Permitting substitution of Goalkeepers "on-the-fly" as was allowed by all other players
  2. Eliminated the three-line violation for field players.
  3. Eliminated the "6th Team Foul" penalty.
  4. Shootouts are to be awarded for penalties inside the Goal Box rather than penalty kicks.
