PETE STEIN NAMED VOICE OF THE SIDEKICKS

Dallas, TX - Pete Stein will be the voice of the Dallas Sidekicks for the 2002-03 Major Indoor Soccer League season. All 36 regular season games will be on Fox Sports 1190 AM. The season opener is at Reunion Arena September 28 against the Philadelphia Kixx.

Stein has been a professional sportscaster for almost 15 years. He is currently a sports announcer for Blue Streak Media, where he updates daily headlines for all sports as well as in game reports and post-game recaps for distribution over the Internet, telephone and digital television. He has served as a play-by play announcer for Metro Broadcasters (KHYI 95.3 FM and KXEZ 92.1 FM) in Dallas the last 10 years. He has broadcasted nearly 500 football, basketball, baseball and soccer games in the Metroplex. From 1994-98, he was a reporter and show host for the nationally syndicated Prime Sports Radio Network. Before coming to Dallas/Fort Worth, Stein spent two years at KGVL and KIKT in Greenville, one year at KSST in Sulphur Springs, and four years at KETR in Commerce. He received his B.A. from East Texas State University in 1989.

Each broadcast on Fox Sports 1190 AM will last three hours with Stein calling the game and John Clemens hosting the halftime and post-game shows.

Dallas finished 14-10 and won the 2001 World Indoor Soccer League championship. It was the final WISL title as the league merged with the MISL in December. Dallas hosts the Philadelphia Kixx, which won the 2002 MISL title, in the opener. The Sidekicks will raise their fourth banner to the rafters during pre-game ceremonies September 28. The 2001 banner will hang in the rafters alongside those from 1987, 1993, and 1998.

This is also the first time since 1983 that professional indoor soccer will consist of one top-tier league. The MISL consists of the Baltimore Blast, Cleveland Crunch, Dallas, Harrisburg Heat, Kansas City Comets, Milwaukee Wave, Philadelphia Kixx, St. Louis Steamers, and the San Diego Sockers.
