Founded as an expansion team in the North American Soccer League in 1971. The Cosmos joined the MISL for the 1984-85 season.

 

Where Did They Play?

The Cosmos were originally named the New York Cosmos, but dropped the New York from their name before the 1977 season.

Where Did They Go? (Not The Way We Want To Remember Them)

The Cosmos withdrew from the MISL 33 games into the1984-85 season. The team tried to play an exhibition outdoor schedule in the summer of 1985, but folded late in that year.
