Next Season Announced

1986: The MISL Board of Directors announced that the 1986-87 season would be 52 games played from November 4, 1986 through May 3, 1987. The dates, covering 26 weekends, would allow for the potential of 21 of the 26 home games to be played on weekened (Friday, Saturday, or Sunday) days.
- The actual Sidekicks schedule featured 7 games on non-weekend evenings.

Division Change Blocked

1986: Gordon Jago, acting as the Sidekicks's director at the MISL league meetings, blocked a proposed move of the Sidekicks back to the Western Division (where they played in the 1984-85 season). He cited rivalries that were established with clubs in the Eastern Division as the reason to stay put.
